What is coaching?
A coach helps clients attain personal and professional goals. People often benefit from coaching help for issues such as weight management, developing positive habits, dealing with stress, relationships, and spirituality. Coaching can be a one-time meeting or an ongoing professional relationship. Meetings can take place in person or via online video software.
Is Coaching Right for Me?
If you are interested in changing your life for the better, speaking with someone on the outside of your life can be extremely helpful. A health and wellness coach can help you look at your situation from a new perspective and can offer insights and education for lasting lifestyle change. If you’re not sure if working with a coach could help, ask yourself these questions:
- Do you have trouble sticking to health-related goals?
- Are you often low on energy or motivation?
- Do you struggle with negative self-talk and self-esteem issues?
- Do you struggle with work-life balance or time management?
- Do you need help with accountability, motivation, or inspiration?
- Do you find it difficult to make your health a priority?
- Do you want to make healthy changes to your lifestyle but you’re not sure where to start?
If you answered yes to any of these questions a coaching relationship could benefit you!
How much does it cost?
Coaches typically offer individual sessions and package deals. Clients may want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, relationships, career or professional growth, or lifestyle changes. The more sessions and interaction provided in the package, the higher the cost—although the more savings per session. Whole New You offers small group and team sessions as a less expensive alternative and also provides some coaching services by donation.
Is Coaching Therapy?
Psychotherapy and Coaching are two services that have helped countless people live their best lives, but there are distinct differences between each of these fields. Here are a few of the differences:
- Psychotherapists treat mental illness while coaches do not.
- Generally speaking, coaching is more focused on helping you achieve your future goals, while psychotherapy tends to have more of a past and present focus.
- Since psychotherapy is about treating a mental health problem, it may be covered by insurance. Coaching does not treat an illness and is therefore not typically covered by insurance.
- Psychotherapists hold an advanced degree and a state license is required. Coaches are not required to be licensed, however most reputable coaches are certified by an accredited organization or school and some hold advanced degrees.
- Psychotherapists are restricted in terms of where and how they are able to offer services. They must be licensed in the state in which they practice, while certified coaches can work throughout all of the United States and internationally.
